Your cars, in one place
You do not need to run a show to have a home on Car Show Expert. A free account gives you My Garage, a place to keep the details of every car you own and decide how much of it anyone else sees.
Most people start with one car and end up adding the rest. Each car can carry the following.
- •The basics. Year, make, model, an optional trim such as SS 396 or Boss 302, the paint colour and a short description.
- •Photos. A cover photo, plus up to five more on the car's edit page.
- •A build story. A longer write-up, up to 3,000 characters, for how you found it, what you have done to it and why. When you enter a show, your car's page there shows your photos and build story.
- •Private notes. Service history, a prep checklist, anything you want to remember. Private notes and your plate are never shown on your public garage.
Share it, or keep it to yourself
Nothing is public until you say so. A new garage starts private, and so does every car in it.
- •Your garage. Give it a name and a web address, then switch on Make garage public. Anyone with the link can see the cars you have chosen to share.
- •Car by car. Each car has its own switch for showing on your public profile. Keep the project car private and show off the finished one.
- •A contact form, if you want one. Switch on Let visitors message me and your public garage gets a Contact owner button. Visitors fill in a short form and the message reaches you by email. Your email address is never shown. It is off until you turn it on.
- •For sale tag. Tick that a car is for sale, add an asking price and it shows a For Sale tag on your garage, with an Ask about this car button if your contact form is on. Car Show Expert does not handle the sale or any payment.
Find other people's cars
The public garages directory is open to everyone, with no account needed. Search by make, model, year or trim, for example 1969 Camaro SS or Mustang Boss. You will also find a featured car of the week, the latest cars added, and top-three results from shows that have published them.
When enough owners have shared photos of the same model, the directory features that model for a week, so you can see how different people have built the same car.
Find a show
The upcoming shows page puts shows on a map and in a list, with dates and locations. Each one links out to that show's own page. The listings cover the US and are updated weekly from Car Show Radar. They are not limited to shows run on Car Show Expert.
If you are in the US, you can also ask for email news about shows within 100 miles of you. That form only accepts five-digit US zip codes today, so we do not offer it elsewhere yet.
When you enter a show
Plenty of clubs run their shows on Car Show Expert, and your account is how those entries come together.
- •Faster sign-up. Signed in, you choose a car from your garage and the entry form fills in the year, make, model, trim and description. Your photos and build story come with it. You can also enter without an account.
- •Your dash card. Viewing and printing your dash card needs a free account. The entry confirmation email has a link, and your entries and their status live under My Entries.
- •Voting. Where a show runs People's Choice, anyone can vote by scanning a car's QR code. No account is needed. Voting is limited to one vote per category.
- •Trophies. My Trophies keeps a record of the awards you have won at shows run on Car Show Expert.
Start your garage in five minutes
- •Create your account. Use the Create your free garage button. Sign up with your email or Google, and confirm your email address.
- •Choose Participate in shows. When it asks what brings you here, pick that option. It is the one for car owners.
- •Add a car. Open My Garage, click Add Vehicle, and then add a photo on the next screen.
- •Decide what to share. Name your garage, switch it to public if you want to, and choose which cars appear.
What it costs, and where it works
An account and a garage are free. Some shows charge an entry fee, set by the organisers, and card payments can add a small service fee that is shown before you pay.
Sign-up and garages are open to anyone. The app is in English. Clubs in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and Ireland can run shows on Car Show Expert and charge entry fees in their own currency. The show map and the email news are the parts that are US only today. Want to see how a show looks from the organiser's side? Try the live demo.
Questions car owners ask
- Is a garage on Car Show Expert free?
- Yes. Creating an account and adding your cars is free, and no credit card is needed. If you enter a show that charges an entry fee, you pay that to the organisers.
- Do I have to enter a show to use a garage?
- No. You can create an account, add your cars and share a public garage without ever entering a show.
- Who can see my cars?
- Only you, until you decide otherwise. A garage starts private, and each car has its own public switch. Private notes and your plate are never shown on your public garage.
- Can people contact me through my garage?
- Only if you switch on Let visitors message me. Visitors then get a Contact owner button and a short form, and the message is emailed to you. Your email address is not shown.
- Can I sell my car through Car Show Expert?
- You can mark a car as for sale and show an asking price on your public garage. Buyers who use your contact form reach you by email. Car Show Expert does not handle the sale or payment, and the price is shown with a dollar sign today.
- Does it work outside the US?
- Garages work anywhere, and the app is in English. Clubs in the UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and Ireland, as well as the US, can run shows with entry fees in their own currency. The upcoming shows map and the email show news cover the US only today.
- Can I get alerts for shows near me?
- In the US, yes. Email news about shows within 100 miles of a five-digit US zip code is available on the subscribe page. We do not offer it outside the US yet.
- Is this a social network?
- No. It is a place to keep and share your cars. Visitors can browse public garages and, if you allow it, send you one message through your contact form.
