Pebble Beach Concours and Monterey Car Week 2027

Of all the car events in the country, the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance is the one that other concours measure themselves against. The cars are displayed on the 18th fairway of Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach, California, and the day ends with the announcement of Best of Show. Around it has grown a whole week of other events, known as Monterey Car Week.

The Concours organisers have announced the 2027 date: Sunday, August 15, 2027. The organisers also announced that, starting in 2028, the Concours moves from the third Sunday in August to the second Sunday, one week earlier, with 2028 set for August 13. The stated reason is that schools start earlier, which keeps many families from attending. So for 2027 the date is unchanged, and the shift only affects planning for later years.

Monterey Car Week is the name for the cluster of events that surrounds the Concours. The organisers had not announced Car Week dates for 2027 at time of writing. One third-party guide lists Car Week as August 6 to 15, 2027, which fits the pattern of previous years, but treat that as likely rather than confirmed. The auction houses and other events set their own dates, and none had confirmed 2027 dates at time of writing. For reference, in 2026 the auctions were spread across venues including Pebble Beach, The Quail, Laguna Seca, Del Monte Golf Course and the Monterey Conference Center. Check each organiser for 2027.

What is the Concours itself? It is a judged show. Entries are selected, displayed and judged in classes, and the day ends with the awards show where Best of Show is named. According to the organiser, it was first held on November 5, 1950, and it is run by Pebble Beach Company. It is also a charity event: the organiser says its charitable donations total over $45 million.

Who does it suit? Anyone who loves rare and beautiful cars, historic racing machines and design. You do not have to be a collector to enjoy it. Walking the field is the whole point, and general admission covers that. According to the Concours ticket page, general admission includes walking the show field and watching cars being judged, special classes and features, Concours Village and manufacturer displays, RetroAuto, and the awards show. Several hospitality tiers are also offered if you want food, shade and a reserved vantage point.

How do you plan? Tickets for the 2027 Concours are due to go on sale in late 2026, according to the organiser, but no date was given. Sign up for the official updates and be ready. The same is true for lodging: the Monterey Peninsula fills up for Car Week, and many people book a year ahead. Settle your dates, book flexible-cancellation rooms if you can, and then decide which other Car Week events you want. Many are separate ticketed events, each with its own schedule.

Tips for first-timers. Dress for changeable coastal weather and for hours on your feet. Read the directions, parking and shuttle guidance on the official site before you go, because the Concours site lists shuttles for some areas. Do not try to do everything: choose two or three events that match your interests, such as the Concours, one auction and one gathering of a favourite marque. If this is your first trip, it helps to think of the week in layers. The Concours on Sunday is the headline, but the days before it are full of displays, drives and auctions, and many of them are easier to enjoy when you are not rushing between venues. Choose a base on the peninsula if you can, and keep your transport simple, since roads around Pebble Beach and Monterey are busy during the week. Make a short list of the cars and events you most want to see, then leave a little room in each day for the unexpected. Some of the best moments at an event like this come from simply walking, talking to owners and following what catches your eye.
