The big August street events
Both are street events in mid-August, and both main days fell on Saturday, August 15 in 2026, so check the 2027 dates before you plan to do both.
Woodward Dream Cruise
Woodward Dream Cruise (opens in a new tab)The cruise started in 1995 as a fundraiser for a soccer field in Ferndale. The organiser now calls it North America's largest one-day automotive event, with nearly a million people and 40,000 classic cars.
Suits: Anyone, whether you are cruising or watching from a lawn chair.
Tip: Use the organiser's route map and Directions & Parking pages to pick one community to base yourself in; the cruise spreads across many.
Back to the Bricks
Back to the Bricks (opens in a new tab)A free family event with thousands of classic, custom and hot rod cars. Saturday opens at 10 a.m. with a salute to veterans and active-duty personnel, and includes a swap meet, a classic car sales lot, Buicks on the Bricks and a Corvette reunion.
Suits: Families, Buick and Corvette owners, and anyone who likes a downtown street show.
Tip: In 2026 drivers could start arriving at 6 a.m. at the staging area on Fifth Avenue at Saginaw.
Shows with a venue and a date
Detroit's winter show is announced for 2027; the other two follow a yearly pattern but have not posted 2027 dates.
Detroit Autorama
Autorama (opens in a new tab)An indoor custom-car show that the organiser, Championship Auto Shows, calls America's premier custom show car series. The Ridler Award is one of its top honours.
Suits: Custom builders and fans looking for a winter show.
Tip: Times and tickets are on autorama.com; the same organiser runs shows in other cities, so make sure you pick Detroit.
EyesOn Design
EyesOn Design (opens in a new tab)A design-themed show where owners display cars as rolling sculpture, with a different theme each year. It raises money for vision research and for the visually impaired. A free Cars & Coffee ran the weekend before in 2026.
Suits: Design-minded owners and visitors.
Tip: For 2026, tickets could be bought at the door as well as in advance.
Red Barns Spectacular
Gilmore Car Museum (opens in a new tab)An antique, classic and special-interest show run by the Kalamazoo Antique Auto Restorers Club, with a judged field and a Driver's Choice field for vehicles 25 years or older. The organiser lists over 1,000 show vehicles and more than 300 swap-meet vendors.
Suits: Owners of older cars, and swap-meet shoppers.
Tip: Spectator entry was 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Saturday in 2026, so arrive early.

Gilmore Wednesday Night Cruise-Ins
Gilmore Car Museum (opens in a new tab)A weekly cruise-in at the museum through the summer season.
Suits: Anyone wanting a relaxed weeknight show.
Tip: The events page does not list admission, so check the museum's hours and admission page first.
