New: Bike Shows, Registration Form Options and More
Several organisers asked for the same things: run a motorcycle show without every screen saying "car", shorten the sign-up form, and hand dash cards out at the gate instead of letting entrants print them. All of it is live now.
This post covers each change in turn: what it does, where to find the setting, what entrants, judges and organisers see, and where the limits are. Everything below is on your show's Edit page or its tabs. Nothing changes for an existing show until you change a setting.
Registration form options
Two new switches decide how long your public sign-up form is and who prints dash cards. Both are on by default, so an existing show behaves exactly as before until you turn one off.
Where to find it
Open the show, click Edit and find the Registration form card. It is on every show, Basic or Expert. Each switch saves the moment you click it. There is no Save button for this card.
Capture extended info
Switch it off and the public registration form stops asking for Trim, Color, Reg state and Plate #. The form is shorter, which helps when most of your entrants register from a phone. The setting governs your own screens too:
- The four fields are hidden on the public form and in your Add Registration and Walk-In panels, and in staff's Add Registrant panel.
- The Edit panel shows them only when the entry already has a value in one of them. Existing data stays visible and is never wiped.
- The CSV export leaves out the Color, State and License Plate columns when no row has data. Vehicle Variant stays.
- The CSV import panel and the downloadable template stop asking for Vehicle Variant, Vehicle Color, State and License Plate. If your file has those columns, the import ignores them and does not reject a row over them.
- An entrant's own entry editor hides Trim when the entry has none.
Let entrants print their own dash card
Switch it off if you hand dash cards out at check-in. Here is what changes:
- The registration email no longer mentions a dash card or links to one.
- The email still invites the entrant to set a password and build their free garage. That call to action stays.
- After setting a password, the entrant lands on their participant dashboard instead of a dash card.
- If an entrant opens a card page, or uses Email me my dash card link, they see "Dash cards are handed out at check-in".
- You can still print every card yourself, one at a time or in bulk. See the dash card layouts and logos guide.
Entry type: Cars & trucks, Bikes, All vehicles
Entry type sets what your show calls its entries. It changes the wording on screen, in emails and on the judging scanner, so a motorcycle meet reads "Bike #12" rather than "Car #12".
Where to find it
Open the show, click Edit, then on the Registration form card choose from the Entry type dropdown.
In the New Show wizard
If you start from Start the Show Wizard on the New Show page, step 1 asks the show type and then What will people enter? with the same three choices, Cars & trucks (the default), Bikes and All vehicles. The wizard's own wording follows your choice: the hint under the judges question, the hint under the People's Choice question and the fee label ("Registration fee per bike", for example). The review step lists it as Entry type with a Change link back to step 1. The plain New Show form has no picker, so shows made there start as Cars & trucks. Change it on the show's Edit page until the first registration comes in.
- Cars & trucks is the default, and how every show worked before this change.
- Bikes is for a motorcycle show.
- All vehicles is for a show where bikes park next to cars and trucks.
What entrants and judges see
The registration emails, the registration form, the public show and entry pages, the vote pages and the page a dash card QR code opens all use the show's word. Judges see it on the judging screen ("Score this bike") and in the QR scanner.
What organisers and staff see
Your own screens follow the same wording. That includes the registrations table (the number column reads "Bike #"), the add and edit registration dialogs, the CSV import dialog, the check-in screen and its search box, the voting and judging settings, the staff pages and their access-level descriptions, the dash card print pages, and the email that tells you someone has registered (its subject reads "New registration" followed by the show name and, for example, "Bike #12").
Limits
Entry type locks as soon as the show has any registration, because entrants have already seen the current wording. Set it before you open registration. The CSV export and import column names keep their wording, so existing spreadsheets keep working. A few settings that only exist at club level, such as the role pages that are not tied to a show, keep the car wording.
Bike makes, models and engine size
A bike entry needs bike data. Bikes shows and bike entries on All vehicles shows now get their own lists.
- Makes and models. The make list is for motorcycles. Models come from public motorcycle data (NHTSA) plus a built-in list, so common machines are there to pick. Free text still works, so a rare bike that is on neither list can still be entered. Cars & trucks shows keep the car lists.
- Car / truck or Bike. On an All vehicles show the entrant chooses Car / truck or Bike first, and that choice decides which make and model lists they see. The entry remembers which one it is. On a Bikes show or a Cars & trucks show there is no choice to make: the show decides.
- Something else. An All vehicles show also offers a third choice next to Car / truck and Bike, for an entry that is neither: a tractor, trike, go-kart or boat, for example. Make and Model become free-text boxes and the entry is saved as a car. It is on the public registration form and in your Add Registration and Edit panels. It is not offered on a show that enforces a make list, and the garage form only has Car / truck and Bike.
- Engine size. Bikes use the engine size question from Motor info (below), so it is there when you switch on Capture motor info. It is free text, up to 20 characters, so "1200cc" and "883" both work. It is printed on the bike dash card when an entry has one.
- Model years. Once an entrant enters a year, make and model, the form can note "usually listed as X-Y" if the year looks off. For bikes this works for a hand-checked list of about 56 classic models (Harley-Davidson, Honda, Triumph, BSA, Indian, Vincent, Norton, BMW, Ducati, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha). Other bike models show suggestions but no year note, and the note never blocks a registration. The popular bike makes are listed alphabetically.
- Garage. Entrants save a bike in their free garage the way they save a car. Each garage vehicle is stored as a car or truck, or as a bike, and the Your Garage picker on the registration form only offers vehicles that fit the show.
- Restricted makes and class makes. If you limit a show to certain makes, or give a class a makes list, the make picker follows the show's type. On an All vehicles show you pick Car / truck or Bike first.
Engine size is shown on the bike dash card only. It does not appear on the public show pages or in the CSV export. The CSV import has no bike column, so imported rows take the show's type: on an All vehicles show they come in as cars and trucks, and you can edit a row afterwards to make it a bike. To ask for stock or swapped as well, see Motor info below.
Motor info: stock or swapped, and engine size
Some shows want to know whether a motor is original or swapped, and how big it is. A third switch on the Registration form card, Capture motor info, adds both questions. It is off by default and works for cars, trucks and bikes.
- The public registration form asks Motor (Stock or Swapped, optional) and Engine size (optional free text, up to 20 characters, for example 1200cc, 350 ci or 5.7L). Tap the chosen Motor button again to clear it.
- Garage vehicles can store both answers and pre-fill them. On a car's garage form, a small + Add motor details link opens the fields. A bike always shows them.
- You can enter or edit both answers yourself in the add, walk-in and edit registration panels, and in staff's Add Registrant panel. With the switch off those panels hide them, except Edit when the entry already has a value.
- The registrations table gets a Motor column: a Stock or Swap chip with the engine size under it. It appears when the show captures motor info, or when any entry already has a stock or swap answer.
- With the switch off, no entry kind is asked about the motor, bikes included: no Motor and no Engine size on the public form or in your add and walk-in panels. Entries that already have an answer keep it.
Motor info is not printed on dash cards (the bike card prints the engine size when an entry has one), is not shown on public pages, and is not in the CSV export. The CSV import has no motor column.
The bike dash card
A car dash card is too big for a motorcycle. Bike entries print on one compact portrait card, about 3 x 4 inches (76 x 102 mm), sized for a handlebar or tank tag. It carries the show and the bike's details, including the engine size when the entrant gave one.
Where to find it
Open the show, click Edit and find the Dash Card card.
- Bikes shows: there is no layout picker and no custom template upload. The card says bike shows use one compact card and offers Preview the bike card.
- All vehicles shows: your four car layouts apply to cars and trucks, and bike entries get the bike card automatically. Preview the bike card sits under the layouts. A custom template is used for car cards only.
- Cars & trucks shows: nothing changes.
Printing a mix of cars and bikes
One print job can only have one page size, so when you tick both cars and bikes and click Print Dash Cards, they print as two runs. The page shows one set first and a button to switch, such as Switch to 3 bike cards. Print one run, switch, and print the other. Blank cards on an All vehicles show print as car cards first, with a Switch to bike cards button to reprint the same blanks as bike cards.
Print bike cards from Chrome. Safari ignores the page size, so the card does not come out at 3 x 4 inches there.
Bike classes and bike judging categories
Setting up classes and judging categories from scratch is the slowest part of a new show. Two one-click presets are now offered on Bikes shows and on All vehicles shows. They are never shown on a Cars & trucks show.
The bike class template
Where to find it
Open the show and go to the Classes tab. On a Bikes show the button reads Start from the bike class template. On an All vehicles show it reads Add bike classes. You need permission to manage classes.
It adds 15 classes:
- Ten style classes: Cruiser, Touring, Sport / Superbike, Standard / Naked, Adventure / Dual-sport, Vintage / Antique, Custom / Chopper / Bobber, Trike, Sidecar and Scooter / Moped.
- Five brand classes: Harley-Davidson, Indian, Japanese (Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki), British (Triumph, Norton, BSA, Royal Enfield) and European (BMW, Ducati, KTM, Moto Guzzi, Aprilia, MV Agusta, Husqvarna, Benelli, Vespa, Piaggio).
- Vintage / Antique is for model year 1979 and earlier.
The make and year rules on the Vintage and brand classes are informational. Nothing hides a class or assigns a bike automatically, so a vintage Harley can be entered in either Vintage / Antique or Harley-Davidson. The template only adds. A class the show already has with the same name (any capitalisation) is skipped, and nothing existing is changed or removed, so clicking it twice does not create duplicates. You see a line such as "Added 15 classes" or "Added 9 classes, skipped 6 already on this show". After that the classes are yours to rename, edit or delete like any other.
The bike judging categories
Where to find it
Open the show and go to the Judging tab. In the Judging Configuration card, when no categories are set, the button Use the bike judging categories appears. Judging is an Expert show feature and must be switched on for the show.
It sets up five categories worth 100 points in total:
The categories are saved as a judging configuration named "Bike judging" and assigned to the show. If your club already has an active "Bike judging" configuration with exactly these categories and points, the show reuses it and says "Assigned your existing Bike judging categories." Otherwise it creates a new one, adding a number to the name if the name is taken.
It refuses if the show already has judging categories, and it changes nothing. That protects scores you may already hold. If judging is switched off it asks you to turn it on first. To use different categories, create your own configuration under Judging in the main menu. The presets do not include engine-size classes or special awards.
Venue State
Address lookup used to search the whole country, so a common street name could suggest the wrong town. US clubs can now choose the venue's state first.
Where to find it
When you create or edit a show, choose State above the Address field, then start typing the address.
- The address suggestions are limited to the state you chose, and the state is shown with the venue.
- The list is the US states plus DC, Puerto Rico, Guam, the US Virgin Islands, American Samoa and the Northern Mariana Islands.
- Leave it on Not set and the lookup searches everywhere, as before.
- The state now shows after the venue on the vote and car pages, the volunteer and vendor pages, the participant pages, the results and coming-soon pages, the emails, the dash card venue line and the wizard review line. A show with no state prints exactly as before, and a show with no venue name never prints a bare state code.
- The field is not shown if your club's Region is outside the US.
What is not included yet
So you can plan around it, here is what this release does not do:
- There are no engine-size or stock/swap classes (for example "under 600cc"). Create those yourself as ordinary classes.
- There is no per-vehicle-type entry price. Use entry types to charge different prices.
- There are no ready-made award presets for bike shows. The class and judging presets above are the only presets.
- Engine size and motor info are not shown on public pages, and the CSV import and export have no motor columns.
- The CSV import has no bike column. On an All vehicles show, imported rows are cars and trucks until you edit them.
- Entry type cannot be changed once the show has a registration.
Quick checklist for a bike show
- Starting with the Show Wizard? Pick Cars & trucks, Bikes or All vehicles under What will people enter? on step 1.
- Open your show, click Edit and find the Registration form card for Entry type, Capture extended info, Capture motor info and Let entrants print their own dash card.
- Set Entry type before the first registration comes in. It locks after that.
- On a Bikes or All vehicles show, use Add bike classes (Classes tab) and Use the bike judging categories (Judging tab).
- Print bike dash cards from Chrome, and expect cars and bikes to print as two runs.
- Choose the venue State on US shows so address suggestions come from the right place.
- On an All vehicles show, entries that are neither a car nor a bike use Something else (free-text make and model).
